The Nutcracker was founded in 2014 with its flagship cafe in Kala Ghoda, a precious corner of Mumbai known for its rich heritage and to be its art precinct. While it was a small beginning, it brought to life a big dream for us. Working patiently towards its creation we watched with excitement our vision translate into actual brick and mortar.... this was the start of our food journey!
Our journey that began in this little 600sq foot space grew bit by bit with all the love that customers filled it with. Our menu put vegetarianism into the limelight, drawing from ingredients and flavours that were local and global and always focusing on freshness and high quality ingredients.
Our favourite service remains Sunday morning breakfast, watching kids pulling their parents in and gleefully wiping out the last bits of buttermilk pancakes with sticky maple, chefs dishing out akuris, salli eggs & turkish eggs, the smell of freshly brewed coffee, cinnamon french toast, the clinking of crockery & cutlery, the sound of the kitchen order ticket machine pinging non stop as the chefs call the orders and keep up the pace. Every bit of excitement we felt in the kitchen when we first opened the doors is relived every Sunday and it reminds us where we started from and fills us with a deep sense of gratitude for where we are today.
The opportunity to grow to larger spaces enabled us to do more with our menu and also add in an alcohol offering so customers could now enjoy cocktails, wine & cheese evenings and a bunch of other fun spirits with their meals. We also host events like live music nights, stand-up comedy nights and quiz nights to bring our customers enjoyable experiences they cansare with their frieds and family.
We look forward to the road ahead with equal anticipation and excitement, and with a commitment that as we grow, we will always be bound by our 3 founding pillars - community, sustainability & quality.
